What a school is actually like
Past the star rating — official data and real family experience, always labeled, never blurred.
Every school on Honest Report has two data layers. The official layer — enrollment, proficiency rates, per-pupil spending, absenteeism — comes from NCES, EDFacts, and state report cards. The experiential layer— climate, communication, what it actually feels like — comes from verified contributors: parents, students, and staff. These two layers are always shown separately and always labeled. The credibility collapses the moment you can't tell which is which — so we never let that happen.
Look up a real school
Search the live federal school directory for official enrollment and district data. These results carry no family-experience notes — that layer exists only for our four illustrative sample schools with verified contributors.
